"We were just notified of your review, thank you so much for taking the time to leave it! We wanted to take a few minutes and speak with you about it. Since we are a very small, family-owned business, we take our reviews very seriously and if a customer is having trouble, we definitely want to help.
Firstly, you mentioned the cabinet shutting so I would like to chat a little about how the cabinet works. We talk about this in our FAQ area and also have videos on our site to give a visual of how to use the cabinet. They are not loud and don't slam when they are used as a cabinet. Think about a kitchen door and how you open and close it. That is how these are designed to work. The sheer force of gravity will cause them to slam if you just let them go. I will attach the video that is on our website for your reference.
You had mentioned soft close hinges, but unfortunately, they do not make a difference with a tilt out trash can. We know this because we have tried. The soft close is not strong enough to softly shut a tilt-out door that is holding weight. If you let the door go, even with a soft close, it will slam.
The backing is an optional purchase. I see this was not purchased on your trash cabinet. They do not impact the sound quality so much as they are aesthetic. They make it a little harder to clean behind and not needed for the structural integrity of the cabinet. Since they are not necessary to the function, they are optional.
If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to write! We are always willing to chat about whatever you might need help with, We are not a box store and work around the clock so answering questions is no problem. Also, a lot of info can be located on our FAQ page. I will attach that in addition to the video.
I hope these explanations help you feel at ease with your new furniture!
